Coldest day of the year so far. It registered 6 ° on my way to take the Pumpkin to school. But they were saying that the windchill made it fell like 6 ° below.
For the first time that I can remember T dressed himself this morning as soon as he got up. When he woke us up he was wearing jeans and a short-sleeved Hawaiian shirt.
I felt bad, because he was so proud of himself for doing what we have been asking him to do for months - if you get up before anybody else is awake, find something to do with yourself that won't wake anyone.
T is a morning person, I am not. If I get 'bounced" awake, it can be a bad scene. There's a good reason we call him Tigger.
Thinking about it later, I should have just had him put a turtleneck on under the shirt and leave it on as a kind of weather protest.
There was sea-smoke over the water this morning, a stunning sight. I'm hoping that the end of this cold snap will inspire me to get out and walk the beach again. Last year I did the laps whenever I could, whenever the temperature was over 20 °.
I drove by the house we rented last year, oh so thankful that we are not there this year, that we are in our own home with appliances that work and modern windows to keep out the drafts. We are home. We are home, We are home!
