A few weeks ago, Pumpkin had a dream that he was out playing in the snow. When he woke up, he was rather disappointed to look out the window and see so much summery green. For the next several days he would ask if it was going to snow tomorrow.
Eventually, after the cuteness had run its course, I reminded him that a lot had to happen before it was time for snow. It would get a bit colder, the leaves would turn different colors, and eventually fall off, and later, when most of the trees were bare, it would start to snow.
So then he spent the next few days asking "Is it Fall out yet?"
Finally, on the way back from the dentist (at which he was thankfully very good), we saw that many of the trees had turned overnight. Oh my, he's so excited, because the next best thing to playing in the snow is playing in a big ole pile of leaves.
Unfortunately, it's probably going to rain most of this weekend, so all of the beautiful things one does in the Fall like apple picking and yard work are probably not going to happen in the next couple of days. The cold, damp weather has me in a nesting mood, and so I've taken some time today making soup and putting away the remainder of the summer clothes, dragging out sweaters and fleece.
Chicken soup and brownies tonight, and then watching the debate after the kids go to bed. Of course I will have to make sure all the shoes that get all over the house are safely back in the closet. Otherwise I will be tempted to throw them at the TV.
